LISA SORGINI

Lisa is an Australian artist currently residing in northern New South Wales (Bundjalung Country).

Her practice engages with the relationship between mother and child, notions of family and community and investigates societal perceptions and constructs that are often vastly at odds with lived experience.

She is deeply interested in the way familial landscapes, particularly the mother role, look and change over time and the shifting cultural representations.

She has received multiple awards and nominations for her work including the Lucie awards portrait project(US), CCP Salon (Aus), Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize(UK), National Photographic portrait prize (Aus) and Lens Culture Critics Choice (US).

In 2021 she also published her first book 'Behind Glass' through Libraryman books (BE).
